Shouldn't matter, the rules say nothing about the size of the turbo or electronics, just as long as they're stock.

Maybe, isn't 225 the limit for AWD in STX?

It's probably just because it's too fast. I'm thinking when these rules were made, production 2.0l turbos didn't output ~300hp, and cars didn't come with 3 LSDs along with computer tech up the wazoo.

EDIT: I also find it interesting that the Evo is better at autocrossing (I'm sorry, but Imprezas have some serious understeer issues in comparison), yet the STIs, not Evos dominate STU. Navid is doing pretty well in SM though (last time I checked).

Don't the Impreza's have a history of understeering. It's always been like that, right?

Nope, 245 is for STU, not STX.

All AWD cars have a problem of understeering, unless a computer management system is used (i.e. ATTESA-ETS/active diff). Most early Imprezas AND Evos (before AYC) have those problems. Since then, Subaru and Mitsubishi kind of went their separate ways. Subaru focused on making a superb chassis with mechanical diffs, while Mitsubishi focused on computers making the car go faster. Mitsu's way is more effective at fighting understeer (unless you bring the Spec C into the equation).

EDIT: I could go on and on about this topic, but it's easier if you just watch/read some stuff up. BMI Vol.5 is a good start. LMK if you want it.

According to this...

STS has the restriction of 225's and 7.5" wheels.

STX has the restriction of 245's and 8" wheels.

You are partially right.

STU is 245 for AWD and 275 for RWD. It seems like the max for STX however is strictly 245 no matter what type of car.

According to this site. http://www.scca.com/garage/forum/for...?TID=5339&PN=1

Here's what I got from SCCA's site:

Street Touring - U

Same limitations as Street Touring - X, but generally allows cars of unlimited displacement , or up to 3.1 liters turbo- or supercharged, with unrestricted wheel width, tire width up to 275 (RWD) or 245 (AWD), .

I figured that STX should be smaller since tires are the #2 thing you improve to go faster. Guess not.

what would be #1?

Also, when needing to look at rules, download the pdf direct from scca.com

Evos are excluded because they'd be a killer car in stx. no bmw or wrx couldkeep up with an evo in stx. The car belongs in STU, where its much better matched against similar cars. The rules prohibit certain cars for a reason.

Evo belongs to A Stock. If boost is increased it's in bsp. If you change the turbo its in SM. If you do ST rule mods then it can be in STU.

Also if STS is limited to 225, then 245 for STX is a logical step. You get to run wider wheels in STU, keeping 245s if you are AWD. If AWD could do 275s, STis and Evos would completely dominate.

actually 5th is probably outta reach since karlton and his dad ALWAYS gets 1 and 2...stupid karlton...

lol jk, we love you karlton.
