AUDT: BAIC thoughts on the BRZ

The FRS and BRZ have been out for a little while now. What are people's thoughts on the car?

Some people obviously own the cars? Others have decided on other cars?

Tell me what you love about the car and what you hate.

It's pretty badass. The steering and suspension are excellent. The car has plenty of power to get around and pretty much go full bore pretty easily in. Stock it's incredibly fun and will truly make you wonder how much you really care about hp/tq now. It gets insanely good mileage. Car has a ton of storage room if you don't care about rear passengers, 2 people in the brz will have a lot more space than 4 people in an sti. Stock tires suck are absolute garbage in the rain. It has almost no torque compared to an sti, it will never kick you back in your seat even in first gear. It has minimal rear passenger leg room. It has no O **** handles to easily get in and out of the car, my biggest gripe!!

Rear passengers just weigh down the car... :P

Its a lot of hype and very under-powered. People coming from WRX/STI power mind set will hate the car for lack of punch and power. People coming from a 2.5RS or L power mind set will love this car because it has a lot of the raw tools that the older impreza crowd loved.

Its got great handling and the stock braking system (not materials for friction) is balanced well.

Engine wise, I'd rather see the FA20DIT trim because the NA system is nothing but shattered dreams

Actually quite a few sti people have switched. Couple good reads from modded sti owners on nasioc/iwsti who got a brz. Don't think you are going to miss the power unless you are really into drag racing.

Hell, I've been "getting by" with the stockish 165 HP (when new ) in the RS for over a decade. I love the BRZ and hope to pick up a used on a couple of years from now. I'm sure it seems underpowered compared to a WRX or STi, but that's not really the point of the car. The formula is the same in the Miata and you don't hear people constantly whining about how underpowered it is

To each their own (or Haters gonna hate, your choice )

I have a brz. it's nice, power is nothing to write home about, but it's enough...unless you're in for pissing contests then you're better looking elsewhere. handling is good, feel is good. interior (of the limited) is good.

edit: one thing that is redic tho, being the hype car of the times is the markups for it still in play here in the bay area...and thus is why i got mine out of state. =X

Car Info: a blue car.
I have yet to test drive one, but I hear pretty good feedback from the community so far.

People who thinks Miatas, BRZs/FRSs, 2.5RS, or similarly powered cars are slow because of their preference for "quick throttle recovery". The more driver-oriented "simpler" cars are actually more fun (imo) and educational to drive without all those horses and tricky diffs interfering. Unless you're into drag racing. I definitely could have learned a lot more if I had kept my 2.5RS or went with a MR2...

Love the way it handles, very fun and enjoyable to drive. Don't think you'll ever get tired of driving it. Only downside is the power. Otherwise, Its an excellent car for everyday driving.

I like my BRZ. I was looking for a new relatively inexpensive rwd car and the other car I thought of was the genesis coupe. The power in the genesis coupe was nice and handling was decent, but I just liked how the BRZ feels on the road. The BRZ is fun to drive and I don't regret my decision.

Cayman vs. BRZ...strange cross-shopping. How about comparing two similarly priced vehicles (unless you're talking about a used Cayman)?
