Audio_how much?

all you bay area audio folks I have a question.

I have been trying to find someone to help me put in my audio stuff cause I have no clue what to do with video and what not. Not working so far.

So....I have come to the conclusion that I will have to pay a shop or someone to do it for/with me.

Here is what I have and need.

2004 WRX wagon.
Alpine 7987 (going in dash I have the pod)
Mattjk screen
CDT 6.5's (custome A-pillars)
JL Audio 300/4

PS2/power inverter
1 farat cap.

I'll need to run RCA's for a second amp as well for a sub.

I'll probably be running both amps and cap in the back of the wagon.

How much you think it would run to install that?

any recommendations.

Go by Fry's electronics in Fremont. I know this guy Anthony who works there in the audio installation... he did a good job installing my Infinity 6.5's front and rear. He knows what he's doing, used to work at Pacific Stereo. Go by there and let him know what you want done, if you want a even better deal I've heard he does installs out of his house too.

AHHHHHHHH you said the evil words. PACIFIC STEREO....worst damn shop I have ever experienced.

I've dumped a couple grand in that place. They have screwed me on a couple of things. Bad installs...crossed wires shorting/blowing my amp. Putting cheaper smaller speakers in when I paid for top of the line larger ones. Broke my window.....I drove up to the cabin in the snow....in the garage getting read to leave I roll it down...damn thing got stuck. I took it from PStereo strait to the slopes..it was the first time it got rolled down. Wouldn't repair it.

That is the worst stereo shop around.......and I once had a stereo installer from another shop steal the stuff out of my car.

That is why I am so sketched with stereo shops...been ripped off. Jacked. Had stuff broken. Crappy installs. 3 cars several systems and nothing but crappy experiences. That is why I wanted to pay someone I knew to do it or have friends help me with it.

but if you can hook me up with this guy that would be cool. I mean does he understand how to hook up a power inverter...a screen...ps2...that type of thing.

On top of that the 7987 is going in a guage pod and it needs a slight modification to get it to fit right. I've heard some dremeling or drill two different holes but I have no clue.

I am really sketched out on all this and it's stressin me out...I'm about ready to sell the cd player and screen and go with just a cd player in stock location...too much damn stress.

I need someone that knows there **** and isn't gonna rip me off or **** up my car.

Hey, my shop is in Stockton so I don't know if it would be worth the drive but......My installers are great! They each have over 20 years of doing car audio (We don't hire young kids). We are fully insured and been in business for 20 years under the same name and owner (We are not going anywhere). I own a WRX and am a fellow I-Clubber so we can shoot the sheet as we work on your car. As for price- If I charged simply by the parts (Ex. Amp labor 75-100, Etc) you could easily have $300.00 or more dollars plus
parts. Now we have never done the screen that you bought but I've heard that it's not to hard to put in. What I would do is look at all the stuf and give you a rough estimate of time. Then we would charge you $50.00 per hour to install the stuff (Our shop rate is $70.00) plus give you a good deal on the parts.

PM me or call if interested 209-474-1774

another vouch for Sound Innovations in Hayward....my buddy, James works/installs there. They do really clean installs.

Custom Car Alarms is also very good. I also know a bunch of people that've worked there, incl the co-owner's bro. They used to have a couple locations in SF but consolidated to SF Honda a few years ago. They mainly do alarms and simple audio/video jobs there, but their store in Pleasant Hill does A LOT of custom work.

I wasn't trying to reccomend Pacific stereo but I was just saying this guy Anthony at Fry's could probably hook you up, I watched him install my speakers and was satisfied with the job he did. I'm not sure what extent of skills he has but you might as well ask him and see if he thinks it would be easy or not.

stg2lgcy....I know you weren't recommending PS...nobody would..haaa.

but I may talk to your buddy. I'm gonna start pricing next week. I'll hit up sound innovations, your buddy and definatly pdqwrx.

PDQ....stockton is nothing for me. I will actually be driving through there tomorrow on my way to arnold. I drive through many of times going to arnold. I drive to Santa Cruz and to San Juan (15/20 minutes past gilroy) every weekend so stockton is nothing more than that.

Price wise I'll have to see if I can afford you. Only parts I'm looking at needing is maybe another cap or a different larger one. Definately will need RCA's for the 2nd amp and might need all new wiring actually. Maybe another amp for the sub but it depends on cost...I find the amp I want online used all the time....JL 500/1.

Basically I have some nice power wire that might be able to be cut up for some of the shorter links...but I may need a new one for the longer part. it's 2 guage pheonix gold. And I have RF RCA..just one set. I had Pheonix Gold but stupid crooks chopped one of them in half. I'll either half to buy one more set of RF's to match or sell the one I have and get 2 sets of monster and run all moster. I like the black. And I love the quality.

The screen is really easy. It just goes right in...already fit for the car. I even have the connector that changes it to RCA's. So it's all pretty strait forward I think.

Only thing that will need any custom fitting is the deck in the dash/guage bezel. needs new pilot holes or a 5 minute dremel job.

Anyone that has a 7987 or 7998 in the guage pod help me out here??????????

That and fitting the front 6.5's but you know all about that.

Man I want to get this done.

at least everything but the sub..this stock system is killing me almost as bad as the stock tires.

Ultimate car stero in Dublin does fantastic work. I know the people that work their and they are very helpful and honest people. Resonable prices for the type of work they do. There mostly custom work so im not sure what your looking for. If you want to know what type of work their capable of walk in and ask to see their picture book at the front desk.
