Don't look at it as an autocross....since as that measure alone, it is pretty lame. Rather, look at it as a spectator event.

On the bright side, if you are one of the folks who does autocross regularly it can be quite an ego boost to go run this event and SPANK some cars that would be a whole lot faster than you...IF they were well-driven . I know my Impala SS got that reaction more than once in the past
hey, is this your car?

My friend took that shot last year.

Not my car....my SS hasn't run at DeAnza since 2000. Tried to run it in 2003, but IDIOT tech inspectors failed the car because they didn't have a clue on how a recirculating ball steering setup works (they "thought" they felt too much play in it....the play was normal and absolutely fine). Guess that's what you get sometimes when you end up with the "D" students instead of the "A" students doing the inspection via luck of the draw

I ran the WRX last year. I ran about 1-2 hours into the event, and when I ran I know it ended up being one of the fastest (if not THE fastest) runs up to that point. Of course, Vic Sias (amongst many others) ran after that and absolutely obliterated my time

This year I earned FIRST place in ST class. I would have won both ST and STX.
