I have a 1996 Impreza wagon and I used to have a 99 and an 02 wagon. Totally awesome cars. The EJ22 is a little weak but plenty for most everything you would use it for and it is bulletproof.
That information is not correct.

The 97 Impreza has a 137 crank hp and 144 ft-lbs of torque, and the final drive on the 4EAT for that year is 4.11.

Neg ghost rider. They do all Japanese makes, not just Honda (that is just their specialty). I know the shop foreman there, and he is an awesome guy. That is one of those shops (the rare kind) that is honest, and knows their ****. The foreman is also an instructor in the auto technology program up here at the SRJC. Although if you plan on doing 100% of your own service work, there probably isn't a need to rock the plate frame unless you don't have another one .
