rourich, try going out to a meet to see and listen to some cars.
In that case.

Nope.

I'd never pay for stuff like that direct from the factory. You can get one cheap because guys are selling them. Or you can buy something aftermarket for cheaper.

The SPT has a nice well-rounded rumble to it. Stock is even enough during low tones, surprised me when the 2011's just came in and we were moving a lot. You shouldn't even worry about it. I like to hear my car, my headerback is not quiet. Fujitsubos are supposed to be quiet, but you can open them up and make them loud as hell. Everyone mentions droning in the back seat. Im well aware of it in my front seat. But like all things, you will get used to it.
Word! LOL!

And agreed. I think it's pleasant. Bottom line... you open up a boxer and it gets loud.

Me personally... i'd go test drive one that's got it installed. But to tell you the truth... like I said last post... Dealer upgrades are a sham. Get the most stripped down version you can get. Add what you want later. It's cheaper and you'll get more satisfaction from it... and be happier because it's what you want... not just what was available.

The only dealer options I like are the matt, rubber cargo covers and things like that... but even those are cheaper if you buy them after.

In the Hatch its not a quiet exhaust, I assume in a sedan it would be a little quieter in the cabin but probably not by much.
I love my SPT for the noise, but if you are doing a lot of longer road trips then maybe not so much.
after ~ 3hrs trips i can notice my ears are affected , everything seems super quiet when you get out of the car...

Oh man that sucks!

04GG hooked me up with the piece I needed and now I can't find the damned thing. Pissed off. It's in my car somewhere.

Just to add to the info for the sake of it, my 09 Sedan WRX has an ERZ downpipe with a Tsudo N1 Catback on it. Drove it for 2 years and loved it, then one day the drone started to bother me. Considering I still wanted it to sound the same and I didn't want to opt for a more ***** sounding exhaust I went the sound deadening route.

Everyone will feel free to toss their opinions down, but I then spent probably more than I should have on Damplifier Pro and Luxury Liner Pro. The result is nice as even on days when I have to drive home from work with a headache the car is quiet enough to not bother me. It also made the car audio sound a little better too with the reduction in road noise. (this added 84lbs too so keep that in mind)

Just sharing a potential option, but with that said the SPT isn't all that loud either.

Mine is not very bad at all with a header, up-pipe, and 3" turboback (Vishnu). Only time it gets louder is going up a long hill, but I really enjoy it. I wish I could drive it!
