Anybody here used these places for Ceramic Coating?

Here's one in the San Jose

R C Refinishing - Refinishing Services

and here's one in Belmont

Accessories Plus - Auto Parts & Supplies

I'm getting my HKS Equal Length Header sometime next week and I want to get it ceramic coated. Both these places use Cerakote.

I've had a couple pieces done at Accessories plus in belmont. They actually do a lot of Subaru headers, downpipes, ect. Definitely check them out.

I talked to Accessory Plus guy a few years ago. He was very helpful. He told me that their coating is either 1 or 3 mil thinkness. At the same time Swaintech coating is 15 mil! I chose Swaintech for EL Headers. It costed me half the price of the headers

Now, for a DP I'd probably go to Accessory Plus and then just wrap it. Or just wrap it without any coating (that's what I did).

For my headers price (excluding the shipping cost TO Swaintech) was either $320 or $350 total. That's for Tomei Headers plus uppipe. Plus shipping from Swaintech that wasn't cheap. Price is from Feb-March 2012.

I think Accessory Plus quoted me ~$200-$250 for the same work.

Went to Accessories Plus a few years ago to coat my Borla, other than typical road grime on the header the coating is still holding strong.

Thanks for the reply, sounds like these two local shops are capable of getting the job done (both have coated Subaru Headers and Downpipes). I sent some pics to RC finishing and they'll give me a quote, Accessories Plus on the other hand requires that I swing by in person and they need to measure it to give me a quote.

Will post up the quotes I get..

As for swaintech, dont' really want to go that route -the HKS headers actually have an aluminum heatshield that it comes with, I don't want to wrap the header.

+1, but not hundreds of pieces. 1 downpipe, 2 headers, 2 uppipes, and a short EWG pipe. Reasonable and quick turnaround, talk to Steve he's a good guy.

Dropped off the header at Accessories Plus (Belmont) - Steve, charging me 235$ to get it coated.

Not sure how much R.C. Refinishing charges (they never got back to the e-mail I sent with pictures which they told me to do when when I called them).

There's a couple of shops in Walnut Creek/Concord that does Cerakote high-temp coatings (certified applicators) too but not sure what the quality of their work is..

Accessories Plus is legit - I walked in there today and saw a "WALL" of headers / turbo manifolds / turbo hot side being sandblasted, then coated. Those guys don't play around - lol. They've definitely been doing this sorta thing a while.

Need more reviews of the other local shops for their ceramic coating work, not powdercoating. I would like to know what preparation process they use so that we know we are getting quality..

Do they

1) Sandblast / mediablast the parts?
2) Bake the parts in an oven to make sure it gets rid of the oils in the pipes (brand new tubes have have all kinds of contaminants in it from the forming / bending / extrusion process)?
3) Applied Ceramic coating using a spray gun then bake it after to make sure it cures correctly?

Inquiring minds wanna know - this **** is expensive.

I can tell you from experience that RC does media blast to prep. Spray then bake taking proper steps. They do great work. They are just a little tough to get a hold of...
