Another street racing death
Apparently my brother in laws sister was good friends with the victims mom. I guess my sister knew the mom as well. Sad times.
I won't say that I haven't sped around with friends before. But the ones who are responsible for this need to take responsibility for their actions.

This is so sad
It'd be cool if tracks around the area started hosting "anti-street racing" days, and open for free/ for really cheap. I've heard that road rage/ adrenaline rush on the streets can dramatically decrease when you've experienced the thrill of the tracks. Then again, the douchebags that randomly race on the streets probably don't have enough intelligence to seek out the tracks... sigh ._.

yeah they dont do it for thrills.
they could go to the track, but their egos will meet back up with them in the streets

sorta like how rob dyrdek opened up the urban landscape skate park in LA to keep kids from skating/vandalizing actual property, instead it's a simulated urban environment at a park.
a high speed drag strip v. low speed curvey autox track. at least with auto X you're paying a LOT of attention to your braking, drag you're just pedal to the metal and one mistake could send you sliding hundreds of feet uncontrollably, auto x you're lucky to slide 100 feet.
it's not so much a matter of people wanting to push their cars like people go to the tracks and auto x for, it's just a bunch of douche bag drivers wanting that 15 seconds of fame[the street racers].
PG2 FTW!

YOu have never hit the gas a little harder than you needed to leaving a stop light or sign? Never once gone up in the hills or on a curvy road and got a little over the posted speed limit? Never once got on it getting on the freeway to 'get in front of that one guy'.
Sorry don't believe you for a instant, no one is that much of a saint.

I will say also, that street racing has changed from when I was younger and use to indulge in it. Back then we found a abandon area of road, or a dead end street with no houses, or go down into the industrial area where nothing was open. We put "block cars" up at both ends of the "strip" to block anyone from coming down, and then we raced and got the hell out. Also, it usually was for some kind of sum of money, once in a while for pink slips. I got myself a nicely done 1641cc motor in a decent 68 bug racing for pink slips back in the day.

If you want to argue that all the scenarios you described above is considered street racing, then I'm sure you wouldn't argue back with a LEO if he handed you a ticket for street racing "on a curvy road and got a little over the posted speed limit"
San Jose has always had a ton of street racing. I just don't think its a big deal, at all. Reckless driving occurs way more often, and is more dangerous.
who care, retards die all the time. Don't be a ****ty driver.

how about a drag strip with turns? i honestly dont see why they allow 100+mph drag strips (one at qualcomm i think for $10? saw it on MTV lol) but not 40 mph autoX course!?
and im not even talking full on autoX crammed into a lot where they use every sq foot of real estate...like a point to point course with a few chicanes and slalom, 20 sec run, which in my eyes could be pretty safely executed.

Of course, notice how the North Bay doesn't seem to have this problem. Oh, perhaps we're on to something here - Wednesday Night Drags at Infineon Raceway.
Unfortunately, that's one thing street racers and a lot of "enthusiasts" have in common...they claim it's "too far to drive".

well its far to drive in a straight line. I wouldnt go there if they paid me $20 lol
i would drive there quite often if they opened up a section of track instead of blowing right thru it on the strip! how about timed from the strip, then take the esses back? that would rule.
Altamont needs to take advantage of an autocross course on their track
