what are the exact repercussions when you get caught for street racing? I think they should be similar to that of a DUI. In both cases, you are making a decision to act in a way that could, and more than likely eventually will, hurt another person. I know most people don't drink and drive just b/c they don't want to get hit with the fines, license suspension and so forth. The consequences should be the same for people that get nailed for street racing.

It's too bad we don't have a justice system that cares to create harsh enough penalties that it would deter people from committing the crime. If their vehicles aren't already totalled, I'd say crush the vehicles (personally, with the street racers inside).
As far as DUI's? If I were making the laws, anyone caught driving under the influence would have their car impounded and crushed the next morning, in addition to any other vehicle they own.
THAT would certainly deter drinking and driving.

I had a chat with some dudes similar to these dumbasses.
I was in the junkyard lot emptying out my wife's car after it was totalled from a van blowing through a stop sign. Next to her car was a totalled Nissan POS. It had rolled and 3 20-something ghetto dudes were emptying out the car.
I had no idea what had happened to them and started chatting with em a bit as we emptied our respective cars. I come to find the moron driver (who was one of the guys there) "took an exit too fast and lost control" and the rolled. The 3 were bruised up and shaken up, but alive. I had no sympathy for them as being that far out of control meant they were way too reckless.
The key thing is... I don't see how a crack down on "modified imports" is going to do anything at all against street racing or driving 2fastnfurious.

really though, a lot of bastards out their with DUI's aren't out driving with a single offense. there's a LOT of people with multiple DUI's the justice system should be a bit tougher as far as multiple offenses go. **** suspending a license, i agree with you, crush their cars and do what it takes to get them off the damn road.
it's not so much a problem with modified imports, it's just as easy if not easier to source high performance and drag parts for those domestic/muscle cars.
nothing against domestics, just saying they're greater or equally a threat to everyone on the road than these claimed modified imports.

Sheriff Doug Gillespie says an investigation into the fatal accident that killed one officer and left another seriously injured shows that neither officer was wearing a seatbelt and they were driving 71 miles an hour in a posted 45 mile an hour zone.
Officer Milburn Beitel who was driving the patrol car was ejected and died. Officer David Nesheiwat was seriously injured. The accident happened on October 7th.

I thought the final car that actually hit her is the nissan
"The driver of the Nissan was ahead. But he lost control, Reinhardt said, and slid into Snow's Volkswagen."
but who cares, just hate people took it on the street and driving like a they are blind.

Ok,a few things here...
1)Sucks someone innocent died, very uncool, BUT... Street racing happens, nothing you can do to stop it. There is no track, no cheep place like in socal for kids to go, so it happens on the street.
2)Most of you here calling for blood, have, I am willing to put $50 on, raced on the street at some point.
You want to help keep this from happening again. Lobby your city, and county officials to open a drag strip in San Jose, or lobby to get Moffit fields side runway one day a week. Something, somewhere things like this can be taken that will blow the pressure off and give people a reason to save it for that night.

how about a drag strip with turns? i honestly dont see why they allow 100+mph drag strips (one at qualcomm i think for $10? saw it on MTV lol) but not 40 mph autoX course!?
and im not even talking full on autoX crammed into a lot where they use every sq foot of real estate...like a point to point course with a few chicanes and slalom, 20 sec run, which in my eyes could be pretty safely executed.

I just read in today's paper that one UCSF officer was killed and his passenger was seriously injured when the driver lost control of his cruiser and it wen wild ot of control. Just happened Friday, I think. They were off duty.
