wrx/forum newbie (another street racing thread)
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and am proud to say that I recently got a wrx wagon 5spd. Just wondering is it possible for my car to beat a stock automatic 2000 s4. My buddy has one and he thinks who he is and I'm wondering if I could take him. If not what kind of light mods would help. Thanks.

2k S4
Engine: twin turbo 2.7L v6
Horsepower: 250 @ 5800
Torque: 258 @ 1850
0-60 = 5.54secs
1/4 mile = 14.17 seconds
So it looks like he's got the upperhand and he can't miss shifts becuase its automatic. The quarter mile be a tad slower but all in all i think to be safe you should be at least a stage 2 system to really kick ***.

S4...
I've raced TT S4's before and I've never won. Those cars are simply out of our class. He got me by about 4-5 cars, I was about @ 135+ and my estimation tells me that he's probably going 140+.
At that time I only had the HKS Carbon-Ti Exhaust, 18" wheels, Tein Coilovers. Now, I have a few things added & I can definitely beat older gen s4's, m3's, s2000, srt-4's...

S4 Race
The race we had was in a traffic-less highway around 11p.m. mostly straightways and minor curves here and there. My average speed was at least 120+mph. Even if he mis-shifted I still think that he can catch up to me simply that S4's got more top end than WRX's.
I look at it as S4's got 2.7 v.s. my 2.0, twin turbo v.s. single(puny) turbo. If I can keep up with him I'm o.k. with it.

Light Mods...
I would highly recommend to get the Helix Exhaust Manifold W/Helix Flex Up-pipe, Helix Downpipe, Helix Catback Exhaust System(Or HKS Carbon-Ti Exhaust System), and some type of lowering springs(i.e. Tein S-techs, Tanabe GF/DF's, Eibach Pro Kit/Sportline, Prodrive Springs, etc.)
Not many people here would recommend upgrading the exhaust manifold b/c it doesn't offer too significant of a change in performance for it's price. I disagree with them on that one. The aftermarket exhaust manifold does help out on the top end range in a stock WRX. And besides, I only got the set for $450(including the exhaust manifold and the up-pipe).
The springs help out alot in the handling of your car when you're switching lanes at high speeds, etc.
