So this is how kids respond to bullies these days? What happened to good old pranks, rumors, and fist fights. Eh I guess why go to the trouble when you can grab a shot gun and go to town...

Another example of poor gun training, poor gun protection by the owner, and a general screwed up mentality of our young people. This is becoming "the thing to do" when someone upsets you it seems. We're moving into some dark times.

IIRC, the law states that if someone takes your gun (even your kid) and is involved in a crime, YOU are liable.

Never heard that before. What about all the stolen guns out there?

It applies to people who live in your household and only if the guns are unsecured if I'm not mistaken

Yes, unsecured being the key. You are required to properly lock or contain them, at least for handguns. I am not sure it applies only to those in your household - if it is stolen and you didn't have it locked, then there are still potential issues. Even if locked, simple locking devices can be defeated so I don't know who has to prove what, but technically if it is stolen, you have to report it.

If you have kids in the house it is pretty much a given that firearms should be locked up.

This is what happens when a generation is raised without the fear of repercussions.

I hope society is happy with their fear of discipline and punishment for wrong actions. Every kid gets a trophy, ever kid gets a passing grade, every kid gets ice cream after class. Doesn't matter if that kid didn't do his/her homework or got in trouble or sucks at sports. Entitlement.

I was a small kid... and pretty damn funny looking. I was skinny, poor and one of the smallest ones in my school until probably my junior year in high school. I was 5'3" and literally did not have body hair my freshman year in high school.

I wonder if I was the target of bullying. How did I respond? I learned that pain is temporary and being tougher and crazier than the other dude went a long way. Kick enough asses and people leave you the **** alone. Period. Who's gonna **** with the kid that gets pissed off and knocks out the guy 3 years older and 60 pounds heavier?

Get my *** kicked... tough ****. Get up. Brush the dirt off. Go do some sit ups and push ups. Lift some weights. Try to come out on the good side next time.

Now a days kids feel entitled. They don't get treated to their dream life standards and they feel like YOU should be punished.

My dad and my sister were/are both teachers. My dad quit because he got tired of doing other people's parenting. He would cut kids slack... you turn in your home work you pass. Even if it sucks. Kids couldn't even do that. Why should they? They'll graduate anyways.

Bull****.

Don't blame the guns. Don't blame the system. Blame poor parenting and a generation of pussies.

lol yes lets stereotype a generation and blame it on that.....that's about as bad as blaming it on just gun laws. I agree some parents are far to easy on their kids...sometimes kids just need an ***whoopin, but honestly it's partly the systems fault as well, partly our gun laws fault, and partly the fault of many other factors.....so many things need to change that you can't pin it down to just one or two...

You and me. We are now friends. I like you.

Entitlement is the key word here. People are famous for nothing, and everyone is congratulated.

There was a book released a while ago called something like, "You can be anything. You can do anything. You're the greatest!" or something. WTF, man. No, you're not. When a kid wants to be an astronaut, you tell them at the age of 5 how hard they're going to have to work, and how it's all math and science based, and only a few people make it. You don't tell them, "You'll do it!" You give them a dose of reality, and then give them a hug and love them. And when that kid is 15 or 16 and flunking out of high school, you tell them, "Remember that whole astronaut thing? You missed your opportunity. You also missed out on your opportunity for a good college. So, go to a JC or pick up a trade." REALITY in their faces is what kids need. Getting picked on a little isn't cool, but for God's sake, these kids need to suit man, man up, and grow up, and if parents were properly preparing their kids for the reality that life is hard, sometimes it sucks, and you have to work to sustain yourself, they'd realize there's a bigger picture here and it's not some popularity contest of "But Lindsey Lohan got drunk and went driving again while stealing jewelry and she did an interview and got paid half a million!" This is not reality, and it's a ****-poor fake reality to boot.

Last I heard they said that adolescence now lasts well into the mid-20's for most people. MID-20's! WTF at our "No child left behind (every child gets promoted for doing nothing)" society.

Sorry. I have a kid. And this crap fires me up so hard.

I've already decided that I don't really pay to much attention to what comes out of your mouth. You clearly don't get it.

Sorry.

Not sure how that makes any sense but if it makes you feel better for not reading clearly or comprehending my point then so be it.

It's just my opinion. We rarely agree. That was all I was saying. Doesn't mean anything but that. There are lots of folks I don't agree with and don't agree with me... some of them are even dear friends of mine.

So if that offends you, I'm sorry. Deal with it.

If you'd like me to address something then let me know what that might be?

oh... and as for me being an idiot... I'd venture to guess my I.Q. is substantially higher than yours so lets not go there. No one agrees on everything all the time.

QFT!!

I knew kids that got picked on all the time and I was picked on as well. But it's right, show them that you aren't afraid of them and they will stop. I knew a kid that got picked on bad. Everyone picked on him, even the other kids getting picked on, picked on him. Not to mention that only a few years ago I learned from my mom that his home life sucked and he got the crap beat out of him at home. 8th grade, he finally couldn't take it anymore. He cut a kids pinky off with a pair of scissors. Now if he had access to a gun, sure I would bet he would have brought it and shot a bunch of people. Lacksidasical(sp?) parenting is causing a lot of these problems. There were always bullys and there will always be bullys. But you have to teach your children how to handle being bullied and teach them how to properly defend themselves without resorting to firearms.
