I work for the gubment at Oak, and I tell ya after we search the luggage we hand it right to the airline rampers, we(tsa) have the bag for about 5 minutes at most, now everyone and their mom at oak know the rampers(guess where they hire the rampers, they hire some of Oakland's finest individuals making $8 an hour) are stealing out of luggage but unless they see it the authorities can t do much and instead of investigating they would rather have you complain to the airline which as you guessed it, wont do anything and I think thier liability is $350 meaning if you have a object that is more valuable than that they will only compensate you $350 sucks, I know. My advice to anyone is if it is valuable ship it via fedex or something or just carry it on.
