30k tune up/warranty issue?
hello all my peoples in the world.
I am in need of a 30k tune up...pronto. Like 500 miles away.
I have the dealership 100k warranty. I would like to get my tune up done there but it's like $700. My question to you folks out there is....
Any of you with the same warranty...have any recommendations on places to get my tune up that won't affect my warranty?
I'd like to get it soon.

As far as I know, you can get your tuneup done anywhere and it wont affect your warranty. As long as they dont do anything that voids your waranty, like tricking your car out with NOS or something, it should be fine. In fact, look at the end of your warranty booklet that came with the car when you bought it. Towards the end, I think on one of the last two pages, there is a section that basically says: As long as you dont do anything to void the warranty, like unapproved aftermarket parts or racing and such, the warranty will be guarenteed. And then it says that maintenence is highly recomended, you should bring your car in, but it also says that even without maintenence the warranty will still be good within the given year/mileage specifications.

No tune up should affect your warranty, on the other hand, no one other than a dealer is able to replace parts for free under warranty.
At 30,000 you are 6,000 short of the end of all the wear and tear items that Subaru covers,
like brake pads, the 100,000 mile extended warranty only covers major drive line items.
But my suggestion would be to shop around and see if you can't get it done cheaper...

I took mine to Alan Rice Automotive in Capitola, CA. for my 15K and will for my 30K in a few months.
As long as you give them the list of items to check off, and they give you a paper back saying they check all those items and give percentages for like breaks and stuff, then your warranty is fine.

interesting...I'll have to look into it. But it's not the standard warranty that comes with the car...the 36/84 or whatever it is. It's the full 100k gold plus warranty program. full 100k miles.
I'll have to talk to my service advisor ben and maybe talk more with MPJ.
as for pads...I'm probably gonna get better pads and some new lines and fluid anyways. I can do all that and still be like $200 under a factory 30k job.
