Question Cusco v-brace question.

Okay, back up because I thought I found the answer, but I didn't.

Do the bars angle towards the front or the back of the car? How far away from the back seat do you drill. Please don't say, "just bolt the bars on and see where you drill".

And which direction do the bolt plates face?

Bottom silver plate with bolts and lip
top blue plate

Let me know if the questions aren't clear.

thanks,

-ryan

the bars angle towards the back of the car. The only way to tell where to drill is by putting the bars on and connecting them to the blue mounting piece. Then get a marker and mark it or get a punch and mark where the holes need to be drilled. It's pretty much directly on that seam that runs accross the trunk. Then once the holes are drilled get under the car and feed the silver plate with the studs up through the trunk. Helps to have someone holding it up and the other person connecting everything inside the trunk.

Talking

Thanks Dan,

Okay, I finally did this. First let me say, what a pain in the *** this was.

The bar does angle towards the back of the car. I don't see any other way to do it.

I can't see that it matters which direction you mount the blue bracket. I ended up mounting it with the end that sticks out a bit more (don't know how else to say it) towards the front of the car.

The silver bracket is the pain in the *** part. You will need a friend or maybe some sealant will hold it. The lip goes to the driver side, or at least that's how I did it. I had to use the lip to hold onto so I could get the little bracket far enough over while snaking my hand between the drive shaft and the sway bar or the muffler... I can't remember.

What people have said is right about where to drill. Right at the seam of the spare tire well. You can see from the bottom.

You will lose a LOT of trunk space and you might have to trim the particle board spare cover.

Put it all together loosely and then tighten each a bit until you are all strapped down.

bleh.

Okay, I like the mod A LOT. I have had the strut tower bar on for close to 3 years and I just installed the v-brace. This v-brace did as much, if not more than the STB to tighten up the back. The car rotated better with the STB, and it seems like the car rotates even better now than when I did the STB.

um...

kinda like if the STB = a 3 on a 1-5 scale, then the V-brace = a 4

Don't know, though, cuz it might just be my wallet talking.
