I think it's a bit more difficult to supercharge a flat four. The layout isn't exactly supercharger friendly.

still a rumor at this point really. Hard to believe they'd end up different unless toyota is planning to ship them to their own factories which probably is not cheap, hard to fathom at this point.

not really hard to believe since all the TRD supercharger kits are just an add, it would be a dealer installed option so it wouldn't be done at the factory. And since TRD usually uses whipple/Roots style SC's which typically work better with high CR NA motors than centrifugal SC's its not hard to imagine its already on the plate for them.

Yeah, but it's hard to imagine that they (Toyota and Subaru) would head down different paths for FI. With all the cost savings of developing a car together, you think they'd go down the same FI path to continue the savings.

I do think it'd be interesting to see the differences between supercharging and turbocharging the same engine and the corresponding results (both power and driveability-wise).

I'd be surprised if they put the 2.0 DIT in the BRZ. I'm more inclined to believe they'll use the 1.6 DIT in the BRZ with the 2.0 DIT for the WRX / STi.

They still do. Always have. They just never saw fit to export FWD cars to the US market.

1993 Subaru Legacy - FWD

Subaru stopped importing FWD cars to the US in 1997. Prior to that there were many FWD Subarus.
