RWD Subaru BRZ Sports Coupe announced. Production starts Spring 2012
Info from FT86club
One piece of info our community has long been awaiting has just been announced.
Subaru has issued a press release [full transcript inside] announcing the Subaru BRZ name for its concept version of the rear-drive sports coupe that it is co-developing with Toyota.
While Toyota has already shown three concept versions of the FT-86 and Scion FR-S, Subaru has so far only shown a skeletal/powertrain/drivetrain concept (the Boxer Sports Car Architecture Concept). That should change as Subaru will be revealing its BRZ “technology concept” car at next month’s Frankfurt IAA auto show.
See INSIDE for more details and link to the Subaru BRZ teaser site.

wow theyve really done a good job of keeping this underwraps untill only a few weeks of the reveal. Hell, half the people on the FRS forum dont even realize its going to be 2 cars, not just the toyota.
the toyota one does look pretty damn good though, hope they dont mess up the styling like subaru always seems too

Tough choice.
Does anyone else get the impression that the Subaru one will be more "advanced"? Such as handling, etc. The way Subaru is wording it makes it seems like it.

Wow, 2012? Better have it ready in Jan of 2012, and people will have moved on.
WOW HOW GODDAMN LAME- The site shows the same stupid picture from 6+ months ago, and has no info. Keeping it under wraps is cool, but uh yea uber poor marketing move. How do these marketing idiots get hired for christ sake?
Also wanted to give a shout out to SCION for announcing FR-S would be in Pebble Beach so we could see it, great marketing, uh wait no you are too goddamn stupid.

Ive heard the fr-s will use boxer block but yamaha specially designing the motor, if thats true it will be superior motor.
