So. Anyone need any parts from a 2002 Subaru Forester?
Sounds like OB's offer is just as sound as his "inexpensive" engine replacement advice

Part out the car then donate what's left of it...lest it is a bare shell or missing large body panels, but even then it worth a try You automatically receive a minimum of $500 tax deduction for any donated car, so unless you ABSOLUTELY need that $200 in cash...you will be leaving $300 on the table in the long run (plus the taxes you will pay on the personal sale of the vehicle).

I think we were going to try and get at least $500 if it was the whole thing. We were planning on parting it out, but the donating would be a good thing. There are a couple out there that we could get behind.

Yup. I would agree with that plan. The important thing to check is a charity's vehicle donation guidelines. Some can require them to be smog-ed, registered, running, no major accidents, etc...i.e. pretty much defeating the purpose of donating

For example, I know Kars 4 Kids will take a vehicle regardless of condition as long as you have the title.

EDIT: Also make sure whatever charity you choose is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
