I think GST and LIC do the service for like $6 or 700.

You can always do parts of it as you can.

Like the thermostat and thermo gasket. You can get the cooling package from Crucial pretty cheap.

The water pump, gasket and timing belt should be done at once since the belt comes off for the water pump change. Check the belt... see how it looks. Pull on it. See if it's slack.

Coolant flush and all that you can do on your own and the hoses aren't that bad. I did all that myself and I'm a douche.

I paid like $100 to have all my other belts changed so maybe jsut piece it out. You know.

Do what you can on your own and have a shop do the rest. Or bribe jeff with beer. I'll come help or you're welcome to use my garage and air tools. What few I have. Haaa.

Noah was saying its a bit more than $700, but maybe thats because he knows I like the premium fluids. I never thought of doing it in stages, I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the tip!

Try to pick up on it.

Some smoke is normal. Especially if you don't jump on it all that often. Just cleaning stuff out. You getting any oil in the exhaust?

yeah premium fluids and a kevlar belt run the cost up. I don't think you need the kevlar personally. But that's just me.

Make sure the tensioners get checked, (-probably better yet just replaced as a matter of course) when the timing belt gets changed, I had one fail shortly after the original belt change and now thinking back about things I'm pretty sure that was what precipitated the death of my original motor.
