****ttttt I just looked and the chip did fall out of my car. I remember I dropped my keys and something came out but I didn't know what it was and set it on the kitchen table and I think someone threw it out. Is there anyway to bypass this?

Fell out of my key I mean. I just went dumpster diving and I couldn't find that little pos. I'm guessing I have to goto the stealership? Could I get a new chip without bringing the actual car?

Yeah you can get one with a VIN and proof of ownership...find that sucker, they're expensive.

Glad it was an easy fix, too bad you already put some money into it. Makes me glad to have a forum like this, I would have absolutely never thought about that.

I only got 1 key from the previous owner. Anybody have any luck buying blanks with chips off eBay or something and having the dealer cut and program them

I was told I could get everything done at stevens creek over the phone as long as I had my registration. so I ended up buying a key and getting it cut at stevens creek for $82 with the iclub discount. They told me it would be another $75 to program and i would need to bring the car in. I explained that I couldn't start the car without a programmed key. They told me to get it towed and I drove home in a borrowed car disappointed. Found some guy online that came to me and programmed my key for me for $110.

so by the time I got my car started again I ended up spending almost $350 because of a stupid transponder!!!
