donut gasket leave on. Use stock bolts that were there originally. If not high temp ones that are small and long enough.

If you cant get the midpipe to seat on the stock downpipe then buy a remflex gasket to fill the gap. Anything less and youll be cursing all the exhaust leaks.
Remflex once and forget about it since they expand.

Took off the donut gasket and slapped a normal 3 inch gasket on it and it worked fine. used the stock bolts and it seems like it came together all right. will post pictures later on and also an exhaust clip too

Maybe he's planning a turbo/up-pipe/cat upgrade.

Koni or Feal struts and Sti take off springs + 04 rear strut tops if you want to be comfy
Koni or Feal struts and Swift spec-r or RCE black + 04 rear strut tops if you want to handle well and still have some comfort.
Bag it if you want to be slammed parked but lift it to a comfortable range when driving.
I agree about slamming, but if that were true about "making the fenders even" then that would mean that all non-USDM WRX's "handle like ****" because we are the only ones that got the massive gap.

On my previous 2003 Sedan, I lowered it enough to lose the gap and even it up, and spent a good amount of time on Thunderhill, Sears and Laguna in this car and never once thought it handled like crap. A friend who is a pro driver also spent a lot of time driving my car at Sears and said it handled great. I dunno, I guess I don't agree.

My 2002 Sedan just got a set of Swifts and an ALK, and though I desperately need to get those Koni's, it handles a lot better, and my front control arms are not even outside of normal limits. My 2002 does have a Cusco rear sway bar, but it's wicked fun on the trips down 84/35/9 I have taken it on so far.

On my '01 RS, I used P1's and AGXs and again, brought it down to even, and it was a blast. My '95 L coupe had JDM STi springs/struts on it which brought it down almost exactly even with the 2001 and it was great.

The only Impreza I have owned that I thought did not handle well was my '98 RS with the Prodrive/Bilstein setup which honestly confused me as I thought it would be awesome. This is the only one that had the control arms - front and rear - at bad angles (in other words, the point at the wheel was slightly higher than the body point). I don't know if this suspension was just jacked as I only had the car for a short time though.

Maybe we are talking about different things.

Holy crap I have had five Imprezas. I owned my '95 L twice. I think that still counts as one car.
