Well I'm seriously considering, taking my glass and having it installed somewhere else. Mike seems like a flake. The one feedback we got is not good. For future groupbuys; If you organize it, you have coordinate it, plan it and make sure that everyone including the vendor is well aware of the conditions of the group buy. Especially if he is going to be taking deposits. I'm pretty disappointed all in all in the way this has gone down. Good luck to the rest of you with this. I'm going to have someone else install my glass.

Too bad, I have gotten my glass ordered, i.e. deposit placed. Benny should have gotten his glass installed already wondering how his labor work turned out.

Getting mine done today.. the fact that I put in the deposit already it's just a one way street from here...I would like to get someone else to install it but most likely if going to other place and you dont' get a glass from them they will rob you on the labor.

I will let you know wa'sup later today

Wagon, see if you can mention Spee's less than perfect experience to Mike and see if he would pay extra attention to your work.

Has anyone asked about a warranty yet? In the event he F's something up and it leaks, does he fix it? If he's not willing to warranty his labor take glass and go somewhere else.

I did.. Life time warranty.

He did explain the difference between PPG and aftmkt brand glass over the phone for me as well. The PPG is double side laminated and the aftmkt ones only laminated on the top (whatever that means.. hope I will see some examples when I get there). The PPG is less likely to run (the crack) and when it does, the crack doesn't travel as far.

I asked about the Subie's glass he said it is also double sided but for some reason it get nicks easily and eventually the crack runs on.

He sounds like a nice guy over the phone though so I would say to mention the quality concern and tell him to prevent rather than letting him fix it afterward.

Okay so I have mine installed today. the job took less then an hour. I got the PPG glass and it was very nice once it was installed. Mike show me the wind shield before he put it on and it had silicon and stuff on it that is because he had it mistaken with an 01 glass when the 01 guy showed up yesterday. He was going to clean it up for me first and get rid of all the silicon or whatever it is before he was to put it on my car. He did so and I mentioned to him that a guy showed up on wednesday to get the windshield put in and that he notice the lack of glue and the plastic wasn't flushed.

He ensure me that he will make sure they do a good job on mine.

right now I still have the tape on the edge of my glass so I can't really inspect it in great detail but the glass looks real good and from looking at the seams it looks like a pretty decent job.

I will take the tape off tomorrow and see if it's good or not.

Oh and it was raining when i was driving back from the city tonite.. althought the rain wasn't hard but at least there wasnt' any problems for now.

Mike seems like a nice guy and he stated that there is warrenty on the labor.

hey guys, sorry, been busy with work and some out of town friends. I got in installed yesterday, took no more than 30 min. It was a brand new piece of PPG glass and he had two workers take my old windshield out in no less than 45 seconds. No joke. I mentioned to him that I had a prior leak and he said that the previous install didn't use enough glue. Anyhow, as I was driving back home, I noticed a vibration/rattle and not sure if it was the tape or not. I only got it when I went above 80MPH and I will test it again in the next few days when I can take the tape off. Anyhow, the install was clean and nothing out of the ordinary. Mike is a young kid who runs the business and goes to I believe SJSU. The product is as described but the installation is still iffy and the verdict is still out. If any of you are going to get it installed, do emphasize to him the quality of installation. The guys he has working for him are fast but do mention that you do not want them to cut corners b/c you do not want to return back for any warranty claims. Also, if you can, try negotiating for a deeper discount. Seems that his prices are very negotiable from my experience (given that he didn't charge me the right tax amount). But at what we are paying, as long as there isn't a leak, I can't complain.

Well, we are going to have some rain beginning of the coming week. Though don't know if it will rain hard but hopefully enough to test out if there is leakage. I am getting my install down tomorrow.

If it leaks, the water will go behind the dash and not be too noticeable though so kind of tough to check.

I drove to Sonora and came back today and went above 80MPH and no more rattle/vibration/etc. It must have been the tape. Anyhow, I removed the tape before I left and nothing out of the ordinary too. Overall I'm pretty satisfied so far with the installation. I left my car outside so hopefully it rains tonight and I can see if there are any leaks tomorrow morning.

Sounds good...

Now can people see any flaw where the blue tape supposely covers before they put the blue tape on? Would you think it is appropriate to ask if they can leave the tape off and let customer to inspect the install before placeing the tape?

Just had my PPG glass installed for the '05 STi. Price was $238, Life Time warranty. Yea, the price kinda moves around in reference to the pre-set group buy pricing, but I guess it's just that Mike didn't know all the different cost before committing to Benny's price.

Mike has had his shop for ~3 yrs. The two guys working for him is fast and seem to be experienced w/ Subie's. The workmanship is fine, but the way they clean off around the glass (part of the roof and the A pillar) before taking the old glass off kinda scares me. They just wipe off the area; imagine you have dirt/sand/whatever there, you know you will get micro/visible scratches. So for those of you who can do it - wash the areas before taking your car in.

It is raining today and it continued to rain after the installation. Mike said the rain should not a problem so I will see. I was watching the entire install on the shop floor.
