Don't do it man. Using WRX parts is up there with one of the biggest mistakes I've made. The intercooler doesn't fit without MAJOR cutting and moving of parts (including A/C lines). You'll also have to shave down the throttle body inlet and IC outlet for clearance. The turbo is too close to the intake manifold, so an intake pipe will have to be specially fabricated, or a new manifold installed. Besides, the Rex turbo is tiny and the IC a joke in the performance world. I guarantee you'll spend just as much as a kit even off e-bay. Not to mention all the time in the shop, exhaust shops, and machine shops. It runs good now, but it takes TONS of work to get every aspect working well. Go with a turbo kit that someone else has already worked out all those kinks in, if you want it to run well from the install.
impreza7, do you have 2001 or older? I was thinking about a similar setup, now missing up/down/exhaust manifold. I was thinking about getting all stock part (read cheap
). But I do have a 02RS. Would I still have these fitting issues?
Thanks!

beats the crap out of me?!
But I'll be going to Santa Cruz Subaru this Sat so I'll find out. My main concern is well the setup work at all. I don't want to spend money on parts that is going to be shety later on. Since I don't have a hood scoop, I would have to run without IC (under i get FMIC) and low boost.

Yes, you'd still have issues with fitting these parts. Get a kit man. Stage 1 is like $2,500 or something. Also, to use a t3/t4 you'll need custom I/C piping to fit onto the WRX intercooler. Like a 180 degree loop (Read: $$$). The intake manifold (Although it looks the same) is slightly different on your car (02 and up) than a WRX manifold. It doesn't squat low and angle up, but sits flat. Not meant for a TMIC. Plan on rerouting A/C($$), and engine wiring harnesses. Also, heat shielding will need to be added to your t3/t4 to keep from soaking the I/C with warm ugliness. A t3/t4's efficient operating range (70%+) is over 15 psi. Not meant to run between 5 and 10psi. No I/C is the quickest way to damage your engine, the last thing you want when turboing anything. Think front mount or bar and plate top mount.

The crossmember is the piece underneath the engine that the mounts bolt to. It is different in N/A and turbo Subarus.
Your stock RS headers are fine for turbocharging. I would suggest going with Tom's kit, it's VERY well thought out and effective. Almost as safe as a factory engine. Best part is, you can still use a top mount meant for an EJ25 among other things. You'll save yourself a lot of time and headaches and quite possibly money by using a pre-fab kit.

If he wanted it to work optimal, he would drop $10000 on an engine build, engine management and a custom turbo kit...
So, with that in mind, I believe, "just fine" is what he'll deal with...
And, in case you don't know, most bolt on Turbo kits for non-turbo cars use a t3/t4 or similar and run 3-8psi...Even though the turbos can run about 20psi...
