Turbo Upgrade.....
I have been searching forums like a bloodhound trying to find a solution to what turbo I want to get. When I make a decission I read something that makes me consider another. I have talked to numerous people and this has been there dilema also but I couldnt seem to find a post to help me out. The turbo's that I am considering are:
IHI Series
APS 30/40/50
PE1818/1820
I would say full boost around 3.5-4.5k unless that cant be done. I want a bolt on turbo no special fabricating. I want a good power curve from low-end to high-end. I wont be doing any hard core racing, but I would like to have the power there to call upon if im challenged, also to run good 1/4 mile times. I would like to hit around 300-350whp. I will be changing my internals around so im not afraid of blowing my engine. I just want a good solid turbo. The way that I look at things if im gonna spend the money to buy something I want to buy quality and dependability. For what I have read and researched these turbo's are good for what I am looking to do.
I just dont want to buy a turbo and then a few weeks or days later see another that I wished I would have bought instead.
So please help me as well as other who share my complication on what turbo to purchase. You guys have been in this area alot longer than I and have a wealth of knowledge of turbos and their performance. Like I said I am looking for 300-350whp and want the turbo that will get me there, not having to push it to its limits to get me there, and once I get there still have some turbo to play with if you know what I mean. I would like to get as much info as possible so this can be a guide to others looking for a turbo upgrade but don't know what turbo to go with. I know there are other companies out there so throw those in to because I know that those 3 types arent the only to chose from. So help me and others out please. TIA

If you want to make 350 to the wheels, you're gonna need race gas, or a higher rev limit. I would recommend getting stronger pistons and rods too. Aside from that, the PE1820 or SR50 should be capable of that. You will also need an uppipe, full turboback, better intercooler, injectors, and engine management. None of the IHI series turbos will support quite that much power. what other mods do you already have?

Sounds like you need a 2.5L block and a garrett T67, with 740cc injectors (modified stockers), FMIC (bar and plate), Full exhaust and a 6 speed or a dog box (because the factory trans won't hold it)
Shoulda got an STi if that's what you wanted.

I dont have anything yet because I am trying to get my mods list together so when its time to buy I already know what I want, if it all will work together, and the only time I spend is looking for the best price. This is the setup that I think im gonna go with:
APS SR/40
565cc Injectors
Walbro Supra Fuel Pump
Vishnu Sig. Series Turbo Back
Vishnu's Underdrive pulley
Maxim Works Header
Vishnu's JIC Suspension
Vishnu's Fuel Rail System
APS FMIC D/R 500
COBB AccessPort
COBB Stage2 Drivetrain
COBB Stage3 Brakes
Kartboy SS
?Ground Kit?
GFB Stealth BOV
Thats what I have right now but im sure that im leaving some things out. If you guys think of some things that I have left out please feel free to let me know. I have read many post as well as you guys about different ones blowing there motors so I know I will need to change the internals some but arent sure what are the best parts for the job. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
