Smoke from monster TD04
last 2 days as i get off work I notice rubbery smoke smell. Ok... I thought. Went and pumped gas, pop the hood nothing but the smell
Today did the same thing.
Bout same place on the road when the car warms up. See smoke coming from under the hood.Just a little. So pull over to Chevron and keep it running. Seems smoke is coming form the turbo. Grayish smoke not much light to really tell.
Ok this aint good i think. Get home and as I drive smell and smoke goes away. Same with when I get home and take the heat shield off
Theres a bit of sootlike grease on one inside corner of the heatshield but I can't find any other spots to suggest a banjo nut or something is loose.
Even revving the engine and running it hard smoke doesnt come out.
I sit in my car at lunch and let it idle everyday bout an hour, but have never had this problem before

double check all the oil lines that run to the turbo. if you spilled a little oil from the hard line on the top of the turbo, it should burn off pretty quick. also, deadbolt ships the turbos with part of them painted so they won't rust in transit. if the smell goes away along with the smoke, it could just be the paint burning off. also check to make sure that the rubber coolant lines are routed correctly.
