I got the same stuff u got but i sold my UTEC for an Accessport and I also have the perrin pulley, invidia headers and cat-less turbo back, greddy ebc, sun auto voltage stabilizer, and a nitrous express ntercooler sprayer. (05 STi)

I'm gonna go and get my accessport tuned some time soon at ssquared. I'll let you know how much power i got out of it.

I just pulled my car off the dyno tonight. Complete header to tip race exhaust, 816 cc injectors, walbro 255, fuel rail, stainless lines, fuel pressure reg, FP Red Turbo, Perrin FMIC, Blitz SBC. At 19.2 psi, she ran 360 to the wheels on a mustang dyno.

I broke a ringland and I had tuned my 257 to a pretty conservative, no-knock (that I was seeing with my UTEC) tune. I really didn't see any knock and further, I didn't see any signs that I broke a piston besides a small increase in blow-by. Comptest showed 80psi in #4. My guess is that timing was too high.

Due to all of that, but tempered by what I see over in Nasioc Proven Power Bragging, my feeling is that the stock internals can hold quite a bit of power when well tuned, but beefing-up your internals is good insurance.
Yeah I think the same thing. The reason I stated lower numbers was because the guy clearly isn't too informed on what his car is capable (and I'm not talking down to anyone, we all have to start somewhere you'll get it) Proper tuning can make up for many of the normal things that plague and engine. I was just being conservative and thanks for your post. Sorry for long reply time.

Hey all,

I think we are all on the same page. The real purpose behind my post (and probably what I should have said up front) was to drive the importance of solid tuning. It kills me that some guys will spend 33K on a car and scrimp on the $350.00 tune that will save them the 4K they will spend to rebuild their engine.

Subys, especially the WRX and STI have such and advanced ECU that it makes it very difficult to get solid bolt on performance. Most people believe that their new cat back and intake will give them the same power as the civic down the street. Worst of all, companies like AEM and others take advantage of these people by letting them assume that the stock ECU will allow for these changes to take place without making adjustments to timing and mixture, protecting the Suby warranty.

The fact is, with out a re-flash or some sort of custom tuned ECU/piggy back - bolting on new parts won't do anything until you extend the ECU past its limits and you grenade the engine.

Guys, get it tuned.

The Cobb is a great tool but remember that it's function is what makes it. Even if you do get a Cobb also get some custom tunes to store in it. This will be the best of both worlds, ease of use and maxed performance.
