Holy crap! This sux! So not only did this "storm" take the predicted southerly track, but the afternoon highs are nowhere close to freezing. Bah! In my excitement of this system, I failed to note the temps. Earlier, I looked at a couple different sites for the radar sweep in the Sierras... DISAPPOINTING!

While they showed a few pockets of snow in the morning, ain't nuthin' but swaths of green (read: rain) now. The fact that it's supposed to cool later for a few more inches of snowfall does nothing for me/us. Then no real significant precip inbound for almost 2 weeks. Plus, for the next week, daytime highs will be just shy of 50*. WTF?!? Luckily, the overnite lows should remain in the 20s for some time, so snowmaking fr: the evening thru the early morning can pick up where Mother Nature & Ol' Man Winter have decided to show up fashionably late.

Well... Heavenly just wrapped up their opening day of the season. The snow report says they basically had the upper Nevada lifts running (3 chairs). Natural & man-made snow w/ a base depth of 18" on several runs including the mile-long groomer Orion. Now that definitely sounds like a $59 early-season lift ticket well spent. Hope those peeople's cornholes are OK.

Anyway, at least it's something & we've now got 3 resorts open, eh? Alpine Meadows is aiming for next wknd--Sat, 6 Dec, and other resorts seem to be posed to follow suit w/ all their snow-making. I know another handful are slated for 2 wknd's from now, too. The mellow Ma 'n' Pop resorts of Diamond Peak, Homewood & Tahoe Donner are scheduled to crank on Fri, 12 Dec.

I'm gonna wash my "waggie" AGAIN tomorrow and maybe launder my bedsheets & leave 'em out to dry. Think Mother Nature & Ol' Man Winter will get the hint?

I just got my snowboarding stuff out. Had to load up my new bag. Nothing like getting a $120 Burton Duffel bag for $35. Got my boots out and put in my new superfeet insoles. Got my pants, helmet, gloves, goggles, jacket and all the other misc. items in the bag. And I still have room to put clothes in for a weekend trip.

I just saw the forecast on the news. No rain for the next 7 days. Things better pick up or this will be a crappy season.
