Wow! I just looked at that place's website & stats...
* You can get your slide on at night under the lights!
* Though it only has a bit more acreage than Boreal, it has almost 3x as much vertical drop!
* It's probably sick smashing along w/ the majesty of Mt. Shasta just over your shoulder!

Farthest north in CA I've been is Lassen/Hat Creek for some trout fishin'!

Yes, yes, and yes! Incredibly beautiful for sure, and going out at night there is super fun. I think it definitely gets overlooked since its so far out there.

I've actually done quite a bit of fly fishing fishing and camping at Hat Creek. So pretty, isn't it?

Is anyone going to this? Spend $50 and get a Sugarwood or Bear Valley Lift ticket.

#2 i havent really gotten bored of boreal yet, plus its closest to me. you gotta remember I am way up here in the upper northbay.

Bascially this is what I am looking for.

Something with "flatter" long runs. I am sure you have been to boreal. I cant recall the name off hand but you know that run to the very far left (if you are looking at the mountain) that is perfect. It has a couple steep dives but manageable, gradual down slope though, although the end of that run sucks. (obviously i want something deeper than the bunny they have there).

Also it has to be within a half hour give or take of boreal. it take sme about 3-31/2 hours to get to boreal. with non-****ty roads.

And season pass max $400. I know they are out there but i have only been to a few mountains. I kinda liked heavenly but my bindings broke halfway through the day so i didnt get to see all of it i wanted too, and that was a scrounge for cash trip so i couldnt buy replcements that day.

The distance isnt such a big deal, I am def willing to drive a lil further for a good run. but i dont wanna by a pass to a place i may not like. I guess in a way til i get better, someplace like boreal just a lot more space. let me know. i am def up for options
Sometimes longer flatter runs won't allow you to grow and get better. You gotta challenge yourself. I'm not a huge Heavenly fan simply because there are far too many flat spots. Plus when the wind picks up, it gets really bad at Heavenly. Don't be afraid of the fall though. Just make sure you got the proper equipment for it. Wrist guards and a helmet. First learning how to carve better the wrist guards were awesome. I didn't pick up a helmet till last season and it's nice not having to worry about cracking my head open.

And damn that video of the Fish is sick!!!!!!

That seems like a cool deal, especially if you need gear anyway, buy it thre and get a lift ticket

Onemanarmy, i was gonna ask you, so a board tune at the locla shop, Flat File, Edge Sharpening, Minor Base Repair, Stone Grind and Wax, not including baseweld is $40 and $5 per inch of basewelding, does that seem reasonable.

I was working on my board a bit last night and relized how ****ed up it really is, the begining of last season started a little rocky and the board took a beating. and maybe i think i just dont wanna deal with the first tune of the season as a DIY.

Yeah, definitely check out the online "how-to"s. Also, as OneManArmy said earlier though, if it's a core shot, bring it in. Few yrs back, I had a good size sliver of base material come off from a rock scrape. I p-tex'd it myself, but it would always break apart & bits would fall out when I rode. While it wasn't to the wood core, it was passed the graphics screen & just barely into the fiberglass layer. No real danger in compromised base integrity here. I simply kept p-tex-ing it til my board needed a full tune. Even though I coulda done it myself, I didn't mind spending the extra 15-20 bucks for them to fill the copious amount of grooves I had. If you're unsure as to just how bad the damage is, you could also just have a svc. tech give you an estimate on work.

Last thing, I dunno if you know about the Tahoe Card fr: SnowBomb, but it's a great for deals, discounts, etc. on lift tix & shop work. I've gotten one every year, usually picking it up @the expo since they run a "special" price.

I just got home from Mel Cottons and I'm stoked. I spent $52 on a board bag. The Sugarwood ticket is really a Snowbomb card plus lift ticket. So I got a $90 board bag, Snowbomb Card, and Free Sugarwood lift ticket for $52. That's a steal!!! They're running out of Snowbomb cards so you guys better hurry up.

Check out the website. http://www.snowbomb.com

I hear you about the board bag, but I wanted to keep my board safe and scratch free the 7 months it's in storage

I guess ya missed my mention of the Tahoe Card in Post #1988.

Hell, if you can get it for FREE, that's the way to go! I've used 'em for 6 or 7 seasons now. With the limited lift ticket & the free basic tunes, the card more than pays for itself. No joke!

If you don't do a season pass this year, the Tahoe Card is a great way to check out a few resorts to determine which place you might wanna get a pass to in the future.

well you know what, the snowbomb card seems much more appealing and fun than Tahoe card. I might get on that though. the thing is, santa rosa ski and sport offer the same discounts if you buy your lift ticket from there instead of at the mountain.

i would get it for the tune options.

The Tahoe Card is what people often refer to as the SnowBomb card.

As we've said, the big draws are the FREEBIES (lift ticket & tunes). The discounts obtainable fr: the Tahoe Card are generally on par w/ other methods for discounts.

Another great resource is http://www.slidingonthecheap.com/. Their "Deals" page is in the process of being updated, but once it is, you'll see that it's another great way to get hooked up!
