Read this important fact:

Qoute:
Comes with the usual Borla features, light weight and all pipe to pipe connections have race proven clamps that uses only one bolt to tighten.

Borla pipe connections are slip on type with no flow restrictions or flow distorsions and maintains the 3" diameter on all pipe to pipe connections, not like the oval (typical USDM/JDM units) style that never lines up and distorts flow thus making the mandrel bends prone to flow distorsion and adds weight. Most units are heavier unlike Borla sets, all sets have a car specific design. Gone are those one size fits all applications. Power to weight ratio and flow ..It really matters.

Truth of the matter is,

I am a JDM fanatic but when we see an advantage , then we need to inform the rest. But we will sell and install anything the customer wants"period".

Borla's catback (14978) for the WRX has a 2.5" pipe, but they have another they market for the STi that has a 3". With a non-STi WRX, do I need the 3", or is the 2.5" really ok?

Thanks for the technical explanation.... people let you work on their cars?

No, Andrew does all the work, Gino stands around pretending he is Marc Logan.

The Borla Hush is for the "non-STI" WRX and it's 3".

Did I detect sarcasm?

Not sure there was ever meant to be anything technical regarding Gino's above post as I see little reference in the title that would lead me to believe this to be a technical post rather a mere explanation of findings.

Technically ~

Aircraft grade full stainless 304.
Flangless design with slipjoint fittings.
Mufflers designed on a per car basis not generic units made for multiple applications.
Million Mile warranty.

Not much more to add really as how technical can you get when talking about mufflers unless you want flow statistics and such.

The 2.5" version they originally brought out rarely is used anymore, any of the STI fitment (XR1 raceline or Hush) which are both 3" are far better suited to the WRX with my personal choice being the Hush.

There can be some benifits of using a 2.5" system such as low end torque and so on but for the most part a carefully matched 3" system will give more gains.

okay ... want my real findings?

I ran both 2.5" and 3" on my WRX with STi components and 3" gave us more benefits on both 91 octane and 100 octane fuels and the car actually did low 12's in the 1/4 mile. The 2.5 did have a better advantage againts the OEM and a good 2.5" mandrel bent system will perform great but not better than a 3" down the line as you mod your car.

With that said which is really not as technical as you would like to be.

Still brings us back to the comment you said, qoute "people let you work on their cars?"...

read the post above ;) we are not worthy to work on your car :(...
