View Full Version : Steering bushings instock !! Subarus
gbmotorsports 05-14-2004, 10:46 AM Make that steering more compliant and stop the highspeed weaving left to right and feel the response on tight bends the way it should have been. Your reflexes should match the cars ability to respond ;)..
As SCC magazine said... qoute: "we are sending hundreds to the Subaru factory so they can install them on the cars they send here"....
Okay we just verified that all 2005 will not be compatible with the 2004 and older models. This includes 2005 STi.
$55 installed for WRX and RS's.
$65 for STi's 04 and older (it is harder to install coz of the bars that are on the way ;)...)
:D
edited for new updates

Kuonji 05-16-2004, 03:19 AM WRX and STi bushings the same stock? Meaning, will this be the same type of improvement on an STi?

Yep sure will!

imprezaJDM 05-16-2004, 04:45 PM how long does install take? can you save me a set when i come back up to the bay area this weekend? may 21~23 thanks!
Kuonji 05-17-2004, 05:25 PM If you have time between 10am and 12 noon this saturday, you've got my business!
WRXCSTI 05-17-2004, 06:41 PM Very interested for my STi. Got two questions:
(1) What brand is the bushing?
(2) Is alignment needed after the bushing installation?
Thanks
gbmotorsports 05-18-2004, 12:16 PM brand ?
Hard urethane Whiteline and Noltec which is one and the same. We do not use any other because they are soft and hard to install. Why change them with the same soft material I say..:)..
No allignment needed and Saturday appt. is even better. This will not take long to install if all the bolts cooperate lol.....
see you all soon.
WRXCSTI 05-22-2004, 08:11 PM Mike & co, thanks for the bushing installation and exhaust fixing today. Since my steering wheel after the bushing installation is quite off center, I'll do an alignment to fix it.

Speed Element 05-26-2004, 07:04 PM off center due to the install?
I would like to hope not and that is certainly not the norm (would be the first we have encountered).
Howard - if there are any problems please bring your car by.

WRXCSTI 05-26-2004, 07:21 PM off center due to the install?
I noticed the off center issue after the install but it seems getting a bit better. I'll give it some more time to see what happens.
Mike, thanks for the offer. Appreciated it. My exhaust is no longer hitting so that's awesome.
gbmotorsports 05-27-2004, 03:44 PM HMMMMM The steering rack is slotted and grooved on both the rack and pinion assembly and the brackets. It may be centered now as the OEM rubber was soft and gave the car a 1/4 of an inch sway, but 1/4 of an inch is not noticeable ..hmmmmm.....
But the steering wheel should have stayed in place due to the deep slots/groove on them. I sure hope the clamps did not came loose and thus made the steering off.
Can you please come back in so we can check. I am concerned about safety and steering is a big concern.
Come in anytime
:)

WRXCSTI 05-28-2004, 09:15 AM Thanks Gino. I do feel it's getting better but just to be on the safe side, I'll bring it in on Sat AM to for you guys to check it out. I also noticed new vibration noise but can't isolate where it came from. Maybe the crew can take a look as well. Appreciate it.
slvrsti 05-28-2004, 09:42 AM hey guys! just wanted to give a bump for these bushings!! i put mine in a couple fo weeks ago and now it just sucks!! when you turn the wheel theres all kinds of slop and the wheels bearly move!! what is going on?!? oh wait thats how it was before the whiteline bushs!!!:) just wanted to have a little fun!theses bushings are the shi@ and i never thought they would make that much difference!i will give out test drives to feal the difference but tell'm to bring their own seat covers so they dont soil the seats!:)thanks again you guys are the best!-Z
gbmotorsports 06-01-2004, 11:25 AM LMAO
You guys :D.
Oh and incase the others have not read the latest SCCM. Years ago we told everyone that the steering bushings do help. SCCM qouted "we are sending 100,000 peices to Japan so they can put it on STi's and all WRX's..LMAO...
thanks again
gino, mike, andrew and the crew.....
titsataki 06-01-2004, 07:46 PM I will be getting a set of those as well. (in addition to the other stuff :) )

Note that the 2005 STi's are not compatible with these bushings.
ryball 06-23-2004, 05:00 PM DO THIS NOW!!! This is the way the car should feel from the factory. It should be one of the first mods you do!!!
Did that sound enthousiastic (sp?) enough?
gbmotorsports 06-23-2004, 06:33 PM lol..... the 04 STi's are diferrent so not compatible like the WRX and the 03 STi.
:D

symon 07-29-2004, 05:45 PM I noticed the off center issue after the install but it seems getting a bit better. I'll give it some more time to see what happens.
Mike, thanks for the offer. Appreciated it. My exhaust is no longer hitting so that's awesome.
What ever happened to the off center steering wheel? Mine is slightly off to the right.. I gave it a week and it's still a little off.. No Alignment yet.. Will wait for springs / etc before getting one.. Just wanted to know if your wheel just fixed itself over time? Thanks..

for the record :)
The steering bushing replacement will not off center your steering wheel. The rack n pinion assembly is slotted and there is no way it will move on any direction just by replaceing the bushing.
Be safe
;)

So is there a way for me to check to see if the clamps are loose? Last week, you guys put in the steering bushing on my wagon and I too, found a pretty noticeable steering wheel off-centered problem, also to the right. I understand the OEM stuff is pretty soft, but I'd guess I have an inch of difference.
