View Full Version : STI Factory alarm good? N2O NOMA 09-29-2003, 12:03 AM for 230 bucks does it go off if someone like breaks a window, opens the door etc. any info would be appreciated. tony Uncle Si 09-29-2003, 07:27 AM personally I've added a phone alarm that calls 3 pre-set telephone numbers when the alarm goes off. I also use a steering lock everywhere I park (even at home)... so does that answer your question? however the imobilizers should be pretty good to some extent! Ditchhanger 09-30-2003, 12:34 PM Uncle Si, what kind of alarm are you running? ScoobySTi07 09-30-2003, 03:35 PM and how much did it cost you? Uncle Si 09-30-2003, 06:52 PM I'm out in Hong Kong but hopefully it's available in the States. i'll get the info from the dealer since it was all installed for me through them. it's simply a cellular Ericsson phone (with a value added SIM card) connected to your alarm system (hidden out of sight). So when your alarm goes off the phone will dial the numbers in sequence to inform the owner the alarm is active and to bring down a baseball bat...;) RoyBoy 10-02-2003, 09:30 AM So the upgraded alarm option comes with an imobalizer? Is it part of the computer or is there a separate computer for the imobalizer? The reason im asking is because, what happens if you want to upgrade your computer to an aftermarket brand, what would happen to your imobalizer if its part of the computer? RoyBoy 10-02-2003, 09:39 AM Another question, is there any way to remove the factory alarm and put one of your choice? Rather than walking around with 2 keypads all the time, and then disarming both just to get into your car.. brento 10-04-2003, 04:10 PM if you install an aftermarket one you can don't have to arm the factory one. just keep in installed and don't use the remote. or if you really want you can remove it. it just unplugs from the ECU and there are like two relays under the dash you remove. there is a tutorial somewhere on how to install it (scoobymods?). just to the reverse. |
