First, I destroyed another Rota Attack rim and need a replacement. It's the steel/gray color. Any of these in stock? How much?

Second, I had 225/45-17's on my rims. I was thinking about going with a 215. I thought it would be a lighter tire, offer better straight line acceleration, and better gas mileage. Is that true or am I imagining things?

If I did go with a 215 on a 17" rim, would I still go with a 215/45 or would it be a 215/40? I wasn't sure how much of a size difference there was.

well, I figured out the tire size issue. There's not much of a difference between the tow. I'm going to stick with the wider 225's.

Stick with the 225/45/17 tire. This size is perfect for the rim and will keep your speedometer the same.
