I have a 2000 impreza rs and want to get 500 hp at the wheels. I'm not sure if it possible but, can a STI drivetrain (eng, trans,& variable diff.) be swapped in, and at what cost? I don't have any parts, but I'm seriously looking to rebuild the the drivetrain and suspesion.

here's some info

be prepared to drop a good amount if you want it done correctly and done well. I was tinkering with the idea of doing that to my RS. But if there's a guy to choose to do the swap, it is without a doubt adam :D

if you want 500 whp, you will first need a conversion and then build from there. Even if you want a Hydra System (standalone ECU) you will still need the conversion done first in order to have that plug and play.
It would honestly be more cost effective to sell the RS and start w/ a STi.
You will easily see a $20K bill (parts/labor) for what you are currently looking to do, reason being all you would be left w/ is just the RS Shell...In the long run it would not be worth it b/c you will never get that back out of the car.
But that is what we do here, so let us know if we can help.
