I like my stock wheels and am wondering what the widest tire that the factory wheels can handle and still retain the same odometer consistency (basically, not gaining or losing miles).

width of the tire shouldn't change the odometer consistancy. the diameter of the tire will affect it.

the widest tire i've seen on stock wrx rims are 225/50/16.

 

Stock WRX wheels are 6.5" - just fyi. The 225/50 is this widest you can go on that. Samowrx is correct on diameter and odometer readings. It boils down to how many time the tire revolves per unit of distance - which is directly related to the loaded diameter.
