Tire Fitment Rota SDR on a 2002 WRX...what is the widest I can go without problems?
Posted this in the tires section but no one came back with a good answer:
Currently I have 225 45 17 Bridgestone RE750s on my car...I will most likely have to replace them before the end of the year.
Is this the widest I can go on my Rota SDRs? I believe my rims are 17X7.5 but don't know the offset.
I was hoping for 235 or 245 width tires.
My car is dropped on Eibach Pro Kit springs.

245 will look bloated, with 235s you can't get exactly the correct height to be inline with the stock diameter. If you are ok with that, I would say 235s would be OK.

235/45/17 tires can be put on 17x7.5 wheels, but 235/40/17 is not suggested.
You MAY rub with 235/45/17, but its nothing a little rolling of the fenders can't fix..

Hmm, careful with the inner fender well. Might want to take a peek at what kind of clearance you have in there at full lock first?
I have a feeling you may rub with the 245's.
Also, keep in mind that if you go with the 245's, you may lose some (maybe a lot)response if you run it on a 7.5" wide rim.

Blake, here 's the deal. You shouldn't go wider than 235 on a 7.5" wheel. You need to go up to 8" if you want a 245. In addition, make sure you're running a 48 offset. Lastly, if you go to a 235 or 245 w/ a drop, you will need to adjust your rear camber to clear your fenders. I'm currently running 235's, slammed and balanced and have about 2.25 degree's rear camber with rolled fenders. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Holy late post, Batman! This was more than a year ago. Blake doesn't even have that car anymore, ha ha.
Downsizing to a 40 series sidewall will throw off the speedometer/odometer. You will have a harsher ride and worse gas mileage. Gearing will be better for acceleration, but for a 17 inch wheel, a 45 series sidewall is recommended.
