?? +48 is going to stick out farther than a +35? I think the +48 is going to stick out less isn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but + offset moves the bolting area towards the outside of the rim, decreasing the lip of the rim.

Yah, the lower the offset, the farther the wheels sticks out. Subys run into problems with the rear fenders mostly, so a higher offset wheel brings the wheel in so it tucks under the fender instead of sticking out past the fender lip

+35 on STis is killer. I know some guys run the 17x9 black racing rims at +38, but they gotta roll the fenders a ton

either way, no reason to run 7.5" wide rims when the STi comes stock with 8" wide ones. Why decrease performance?

No ****, really?

Of ocurse a higher offset moves the wheel in.

He's running a 225 and rubbing, on a +35.

A 255 on a +48: the centerpoint sits 13mm inboard because of the higher offset. Then, split the 30mm wider tire and you've got it sitting 15mm out compared to a 225 on the same wheel. That's technically 2mm farther out towards the outside fender lip.

But you missed my point entirely, which is that if he's rubbing with a 225, he's got to be slammed into the weeds.

Not really, you cant really get away with 255s on a high offset wheel even with a moderate drop

Ok, forget the damn 255's. It was an example. The wheels he has are wrong. Fair enough?
I'm not getting into a 255 discussion here, he needs to get a higher offset wheel and should be able to run a 225 or 235 with no problems.

It looks like you said +48 will stick out farther than a +35 of the same size.

Sorry if I read it wrong, no need to be an a$$hole about it.

With a 225 on the +35 and a 255 on the +48, it will. Do the math. I'm talking about the outside edge of the tire, which is what we're concerned about with rubbing. I know the mounting face of the +48 sits farther in, trust me.

I'm not trying to be an ***, I was just trying to get more information about his suspension setup. I tried to clearly state wheel sizes, tire sizes and offsets. My question was how he was rubbing, front AND rear, with 225's, as even pushed out as much as he is with the +35, I've seen guys run setups that are actually closer to the fender (a 255 on a correctly spec'd wheel) without any problems. I wasn't trying to get into an offset debate, just provide an example of what I was talking about

I've been doing this stuff too long to argue over the internet, I was just trying to help the dude out. Truce.
