Major Issue
I have a 99 Impreza 2.5 RS (automatic). I have no idea how this happened, or what has even caused it...I'm only assuming that it's a transmission issue...
Basically what is happening to me is: when I put my car into drive, the car doesn't move. I have to puch my foot on the accelerator (sometimes heavily) in order to get into gear and have the car start to move.
It's strange because I have no problem whatsoever with reverse, and once the car gets moving, I don't have any more problems with it. It's only the transtition from (park) to (drive) that is giving me trouble.
Another strange thing about it is that it seems to be worse than normal when the weather is hot. I have to literally "gun it" in order to start moving.
So yeah, that's my problem. I went to my local dealer and they want me to replace the whole transmission, but I don't see why that's necessary since I only have the problem in that one specific function of the tranny. Is there anything else that I should look into? One person told me it might be some kind of pump that's causing it...but to be totally honest, I know very little about the subject, so I have no idea if that's even a little bit possible.
I would certainly appreciate any insight from you guys on this. Maybe one of you has had the same problem?
Thanks in advance.
