What tires should i get?

I just wanted to throw in a +1 for toyo proxes 4s. I've had good wet traction (haven't taken them to tahoe yet). More criticly they had more than enough dry traction to save my **** when the 101 came to a dead stop while I was looking over my shoulder to change lanes. They held through some very hard breaking and a massive swerve.
I've had Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S 235/45/17 for a while now. I love 'em, these things rule in almost any condition. Anyone who has driven with me can attest, they hold thier own quite well.

Yeah I was telling him that the 215/45/16 would be off. I was recommending 225/50/16 which is only .5mm short difference in total diameter of the wheel if he was thinking 16s.

werd. I wish they were cheaper, prob gonna go with falken 512s in the same size once my stock evo advans wear out and use the stocker rims for the winter
In the long run, I recommend having two set of wheels.

I say this because all it takes is a single "loss of control" moment in the snow/ice to cause enough damage that would offset the costs. ONe slip and there goes a fender in the divider...$500-$1000 in damage plus ruining a trip and maybe much worse.
I go to tahoe like 5-10 times a winter. Even w/ decent all seasons tires, there's alomst a night and day difference and I KNOW i'll get a couple of bad drives (storms)...it really doesn't take much to lose traction and I want every advantage a set of winter tires offer.
So a good winter set up cost like $400-$1000. They last like 4-5 seasons...so that's almost 50 trips to Tahoe where I KNOW w/ winter tires and 4wd...I'll be prepared.
And this doesn't even touch on the fact I don't have to compromise the other 9 months/yr on S03s.
Remember, all it takes is one fender bender to recoup costs...why compromise 5 years of driving?
Also w/ some air tools and compressor, wheel change takes all of 10 minutes.
