I'm running Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S. They have great everyday traction and I'm expecting around 30k out of them. I've never taken them to the snow, but I'm almost positive they're great tires in there too. As for price, I got mine for 100$/tire (225/50/16)

Im running the same tires. I bought them for the same reason. All the reviews said they were great in the wet and dry.

Mine were a bit more for 235/40/18s

i picked up the falken ze - 512's for winter driving. they were pretty cheap and i've driven to tahoe a bunch with them. they are way better than my summer tires (falken azeni's) in the rain/snow, a lot quieter, and i'm really happy with them. of course i swap em out when its dry though....

+1 for Falken Zeix 512. I've even used those for track days when my track tires weren't ready. I'm currently trying Toyo Proxes 4 on my winter setup. I've read great reviews for them, and they seem good so far but I don't have much of my own data yet.

+1 for Pirelli. I drove them through a winter in Syracuse, NY. The US capitol of snow and crap weather.

THe look of the tread will throw you off. Before getting the, I couldn't imagine how they would do well on dry or wet but they do. Well worth it. And 30k mileage for sure.

Might as well run 215/45/16 on your Legacy GT wheels. I have BFGoodrich G-Force KDWS, they came on my car with the stock wheels and I like them pretty well for wet / dry traction.

If the stock tires are 205/55/16 like the WRX, the speedo would be off if he went to 215/45/16 ( http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos ). Like me, at 225/50/16, it would be .5 mm difference in entire tire diameter, which would make it much of a closer speedo reading. Though, if LGT wheels are really only 6" wide (WRX is 6.5 and older RS wheels are 7") then it'd look weird to go to a 225...

I'm pretty sure the Legacy GT wheels before 05 were 16x6.5

If you guys know sonic_yellow (Jon) he's been running 215/45/16 on his set of lgt wheels. But yea the speedo will be off more using 45 vs 50. Thats if he cares about that, pretty soon I'm getting another set of 16'' RS wheels and I'll have a 45 sidewall on it... may be a lil bit less accurate speedo but I think I can live with it.

dry/wet performance tires and all season (mud and snow) tires are two different things....
