17x7.5 SSR Comps and 225 45 17 Kumho Ecsta MX tires on my '03 WRX Sedan. I get tons of grip off of the MXs which are a real bargain at $125 per tire. MXs are great in the rain, too. I did not go to heavy 18" wheels so I did not slow down the straight-line acceleration of the car that much. I'm just slightly slower in the straight line than stock but the car handles about 100% better in all respects. If I really punch it, I might be a little faster in the 0-60 because of all of the grip from the MXs, but that's not how I drive the car. These wheels and tires are wider and the rim is larger than stock, but the unsprung weight of my WRX is a total of 18 lbs. less than stock thanks to the SSR wheels and MX tires. No rubbing, perfect fit with 50 offset.

p.s. You don't want to use the MXs in the Chicago winter, they are a "summer" tire, great for the dry and rain but not designed for snow.

I just got my wheels and tires but haven't put them on yet. They're 17x8 with 225/45, I'll post pics and impressions.

i'm using prodrive gc-06 17x7.5 +48 with 225/45 Nitto Neo Gens. Ride is a little harsh compared to stock, but it's more quiet , might be the thread design of the neo gens.
