What is the best offset for a wider tire on an STi??

I am looking at new wheels and am trying to figure out which offset is better for a wider tire like a 245/40/18

18x8 with 51mm offset
or
18x8 with 48mm offset
or
18x8.5 with 45mm offset

It would seem from what I'm finding that the 45mm offset would allow for the widest tire, but wanted to confirm...

18x8 + 48 or 18x8.5 +45.

I would go with 35 series tires though.

I have 18x8.5's with +45 offset. Im running 235/40/18. They fit perfectly. You could probably squeeze 245's in there but if you do, go with 245/35's.

deeper the offset, the better I think because you can then lower the car and the wheels won't rub.

Too high of an offset will cause your rim/tire to rub against your suspension.

I think you will want the 8.5 if you want to go with the 245. 8" is on the low side.
245/35/18 will be about right in size but anticipate a little more harshness in your ride and I hope you are getting strong rims - they may take more of a beating
