wanli tires??
Hey guys...does anyone know anything about Wanli tires?? My local tire place was telling me about them. I just wanted to check here if anyone knew anything about them. The tire size is 225/40-18.
I've heard of them. I don't know anything about them though. The guy i bought my wheels from was tryin to sell me some, but i ended up getting nankang instead. I never heard of the nankangs either though before i bought them.

I have my doubts about Wanli. I mean, mainland Chinese tires... that's like putting your life and your car in the hands of shoddy workmanship right?! There've been some pretty bad incidents involving these in HK too
(Before you call me racist, I'm Chinese myself
Still don't trust Chinese tires...)

WanLi and Nanking are decent tires, they hold up fine and are actually a decently made tire.
HOWEVER... I know many 240sx and ag4 owners who use Nanking and WanLi for drift events becasue they have good treadwear... which should really say something about their grip levels. LOL My friend's Supra shreds a set of rear AVS Sports in 3 min.
the wanli performance tire has the same tread pattern as the yokohama AVS Sports, but the rubber in them is a vastly differrent compound. you won't get any traction in spirited driving, although they're find for normal grocery-getting.
here's my take on the breakdown of tires brands (assuming you're uing their top 2-3 summer sports tires) in no particular order
street use only, mild mannered driving
Nanking, WanLi, General, etc
street/light track
Kumho, Sumitomo, Nitto, Toyo, Falken, Hankook
street/track
yokohama, pirelli, bridgestone, goodyear
DOT approved track tires
Avon, Michelin, Kumho
=)
