Some info from the tires I purchased 2 weeks ago. I replaced the Sumitomo HTRZ-II as they were loud on the freeway, sounded similar to super swampers! I bought Kumho Ecsta 4X. Its a night and day difference on the freeways now. They grip very well in the twisties. According to the reviews and tests, it's a great all season tire. But on the sidewall on the tire it designates an M+S which I think is great. I'll report back of how it performs in wet and snow conditions once I make a trip up to Tahoe this winter. So far, great tire.

You cannot compare those Kumhos to the HTR ZIIs (which are not loud on the road BTW). The latter would completely destroy the former in dry grip. However the Kumhos will handle rain and snow better, considering they are all seasons.

No such thing as Best all season tire. They all are compromises.

That said, my Yokohama YK580 have been great for windy roads, rain and snow. Even did some backroads and no issues.

These tires are loud otherwise I wouldn't be stating it, lol. The HTRZ were so loud that I thought my front bearings were shot. So I replaced the bearings thinking the noise would go away but guess what? The tire noise was still there! I'm only comparing how loud they are in comparison to the Kumho's. I like the all season aspect of it as this is why I bought them. Great tire.

this is an apples to oranges comparison. you are comparing an all season to a max performance summer tire of course the htr zIII are louder. all summer tires are louder than all season

If they were that loud then chances are your suspension is dead and you wore cups into the insides of your tires. In which case your new tires are about to start crying like banshees too. I ran run HTR ZIIs for 8 years. They are not loud at all.
