Dealer mechanics probably got careless or lazy. Stick to manufacturer's recommendation. That's what I think.

add 5 pounds to all 4, better handling and I've never had a problem with over inflation.

Heh, the mechanics just work there. It's not like they've pledged their lives to Subaru or anything. But I know what you mean when you say it's irriatating. Sometimes dealerships do some pretty dumb isht.

There is a known addage that you should always check your air pressure after someone works on your car. Having a couple more psi means nothing, better than being too low. Many, many Subie fans run the exact psi's you posted above---32---32--

When I was driving on my Stock RE92's which were 205/55/16, I had 38 psi in the front, and 37 psi in the rear. Just my personal preference. I think the ride feels a lot more grippy against the road. Though, others may disagree.

You can run 32/32 without any problems so I wouldn't worry about it too much. At worst you might feel a slight difference in the handling.
