stretch tires

after i got the rx8 im thinking about getting some new wheels, and i want to have the stretch look.

maybe like 225 on 9.5 inch wheel or even 215 (i have 2 215 sitting around). what are some pros and cons on stretch the tires? and what size would be TOO much? is it bad for the tires?

how is stretching a ES100s? because thats the tires i have.

TIA

stretch tires? You mean you want them to look wide? 225's are not going to look wide on a 9.5" rim. Stock STI 17x7.5 wheels come with 225s, on my 17x8's I can go to 245. On the hankook website, it shows 9.5 is way too wide for 9.5's...look into 245+ widths

Still unclear on what "stretch" means though

its not that bad for the tires. (is ur asking about wear)
some places wont do it due to safety issues.

depends on how much you stretch the tire could de-bead and that would be all bad. a 225 will be really pushin it a 235 would be more ideal.

i would not reccomend driving hard or drifting with stretch.

also running too much - camber would be not so friendly with the tires

does look cool though! (vdub guy at heart)

actually drifters USE stretch tires...when they turn in the tire doesnt roll or pull since it is already....as long as you dont get to being retarded with it, it will work just fine and make the car feel like a go kart...fast turn in and alot of NVH from the road, you will feel EVERYTHING

honestly the main reason the VW guys do it is so they can go crazy low without rubbing on really wide wheels, i think it can look really nice unless its over done....i would go with a 235 on a 9.5 it should give you decent stretch with no possiblity of debeading once you get the correct tire pressure in there

just my .02
