I'm just in the market for new tires also, cause i got new 17" rims from subydude! I looked at those tires also, but decided on Yokohama AVS ES100 instead. All reviews I checked out were outstanding. Tread looks awesome, and for the price, I felt it was the best way to go! You should check them out!
Avoid the Kumho Ecsta MX like the plague...
unless you love a noisy tire. On some road surfaces
you would swear you are running a big chunky
offroad tire.
Listening to that tread pattern mile after mile will
drive you crazy.
They do perform reasonably well, but I'd recommend
something like the Bridgestone Pole Position S-03 instead.
Just my .02
I would NOT buy these Kumhos again.

It comes down to what matters to you and how much money you have. The SO-3's are much more expensive than the MX's and don't handle as well on dry asphalt. On wet asphalt the SO-3's will outperform the MX's but again, they cost a lot more.
As for noise with the MX's are noisy but I've heard the SO-3's are also noisy. Anyway, the MX's stick quite well on dry asphalt and are close to the level of the BFG KD's for less than 2/3 the price.

I know that...but Kumho MX's are beyond just loud, it's a
bad tread design.
You don't have to have a performance tire that sounds
like a Mickey Thompson offroad truck tire. These Kumhos
do.
Nice statement about me not being an enthusiast too...
ahhh the anonimity of the internet...
I just ordered the Pzero Neros. They outperformed the SO-3s and Pilots in a Tire Rack comparo, and they are on sale this month in 225/45/17 size for $116 per tire. What more could you want?

bah, I have no complaints about the sound. It's louder than stock yeah, but nothing huge. Just turn the stereo on. And like it was mentioned before if you have an exhaust/intake (which I dont) then tire is going to be way down at the bottom of your noise list.
i have the MX's on my car right now. it's not the noise that bothers me but the fact that you can feel every little bump in the road. but they do grip the road really nicely. for my next set of tires, i'm going with the Neros.

So far I am lovin' the PZero Neros! I went from around 48 lbs. per corner (18" P1s and Kumho 712s) to around 39 lbs. per corner (UKs and the PZero Neros). Needless to say, it feels like I'm pulling and handling much better. Haven't gone crazy on the tires yet, but they feel grippy, light and comfortable. Did experience some tramlining on the freeway yesterday, but I can live with that.
