Are you sure they are painted stock rims? There are a few companies that are selling rims that look like the stock ones that are gold but I don't remember which companies.

You can do it, you just need to make sure and prep the wheels first (sand and primer) so the paint stays on. I have heard people with painted wheels complain about the durability.

dont paint, powder coat

paint can look good but wont last, powdercoating looks good and lasts
