need to replace a tire... suggestions?
I got a nail in one of my RE070's... and i have to replace that one... the thing is if i buy a brand new tire, and the other three have 5000miles of wear on them... is that going to screw things up in terms of dynamics of the car? (balance, handling, etc)
any suggestions? I tried looking for a used RE070, didn't find any... any one know of any sites or anything? thanks!

On awd when one tire goes you should replace them all. Its too bad they have such low miles on them but you gotta take your loss. My old RE011's only had about 2k miles on them and i ran over a nail and destroyed one tire. I replaced them with RE01's and besides losing alot of money im almost happy i did it.

I didnt say you have to, i said you SHOULD. If you want to have them shaved than knock yourself out. I just dont like the 070's (in rain) and i would replace them if i could help it.

5000 miles might not even be enough to warrant shaving the new tire down. The difference in size of the new tire vs. old shouldn't be much. Put the new tire on the front since the fronts hold more weight.
It's funny, everyone gets there thong in a knot when someone asks about a non matching set of tires but here's one for ya. If it is so important to keep the rolling circumference the same on all four tires than why don't we HAVE to have a larger tire up front? The weight on the front tires is greater causing more squat, so the rolling diameter is actually smaller than the rear tires so theoretically even if all 4 tires were exactly the same size before installation, once they are installed the fronts are too small. Go out and measure your tires, I'll bet the fronts don't match the rears, even if you are running 18's.
