need new tires

Well I finally burned off the re92's!! But now I need to find new tires, what I want to do is put snow tires on the stock rims and get a set of 17's with summer tires. The only problem that I have is $$$. My question to you is should I get another set of all seasons or get winter/snow tires early. My new york inspection is up the end of aug.. I won't be able to afford 17's till next spring (just bought a house).

do not put winter tires on in the summer ... you will wear them out before winter even gets here ... sounds like you need to do a set of all-season tires to me

bf goodrich traction t/a both offer a 50k to 60 k warranty, and have a over 400 wear rating, not 160 like those piece of **** bridgestones, you would think you spend all this money on a car, they tell you how great it is, and they give you **** tires. wtf, sometimes i would like to break some of these peoples fingers for doing that.

Assume a company (Subaru, for instance) said, "I need you to make tires for my 25,000 Imprezas that I will make & sell this year. But, I need these tires to be quiet, V-rated, & with respectable performance attributes (so I can sell my sporty cars) all season (so I don't get sued by some non-reading moron in Maine). Oh, yeah, since I am buying 100,000 tires from you I want them cheap. Cheap like you-gotta-hire-Leeza-Gibbons-ex-workers-to-even-think-about-turning-a-profit cheap."

Basically, that's what happens when OEs buy tires from tire makers. The OE cares about selling his cars , not longevity, or how greasy the tires are after 2 laps @ Laguna Seca. (And that is why some tire makers do not make tires for OEMs - not enough profit.) Not until recently have moderately priced performance cars come equipped with 1/2 way decent tires.

That is basically how a Bridgestone manager explained it to my wife, who used to work for them.

Read that guys, Luke put it there for a reason. If he left off a particular tire, it didn't deserve to make the list.

I like my falkens, they aren't on the list because tire rack doesn't carry them, vulcantire.com usually has pretty good prices, I have ze-512's and I like em, especially in the wet, don't know about snow as I have not driven them in the snow, and I use snow tires (we get something called lake effect snow. . . it sucks)

you know what we should not even be having this conversation, weren't we supposed to have like flying cars by now? or at least a have craft of some sort, now that would be fun to tune. you know like luke skywalkers sand craft, you could have ben sitting shot gun, crackin a 40 ouncer.

no bu seriously i went out to day and got the traction ta's, t&a's but i have pictures of how my old ones wore, it is pretty cool they guy who changed them said i had about20 miles left on 2 of the before the would haveblown off the rim, talk about waiting to the last minute o find a deal.

Is ther any all seasons that are better in the snow than others? I work nights in wester new york so the roads are never plowed on my way home. When do you guys put on your snow tires? Also 225's or 205's?

Get narrower snow tires, I live in ohio, and usually do mine before thanksgiving. All seasons are better in the snow than summer tires because they're all seasons. . . but snow tires are still better, and if you're in NY then I'd venture to say you get a fair amount of snow, and that getting snows would be worth the money.

bridgestone also makes s03 which are really good in wet and dry. so it's not bridgestones tires that suck, just depends on what you get.
