Need help with new tire setup!!!!
I had been looking for some new tires for the 04 wrx (running 2011 WRX wheels) and finally came across an UNBEATABLE deal on 4 brand new Potenza Pole Positions.
The only problem is that they are 245/45/17 instead of the factory 235/45/17 that came on the 2011 WRX wheels.
So in talking to Firestone about the dimensions of the 245/45/17, the guy says that it is about 10mm wider than the 235/45/17. That doesnt sound like much... until you see exactly how close the strut is to the current 234/45/17.
The gap at the top inside corner of the tire seems to be right about 8-10mm
So it looks as though I am going to need to run some spacers right?
The question I have is whether or not a 5mm spacer should work or not. I would think that if the tire is 10mm wider, that would equate to 5mm on each side. I have tons of room with my fender. Or based on the current spacing... should I go bigger than 5mm?
