How wide can a WRX Sedan go?

How wide can a WRX Sedan go?

I did a search to try and find out what is the widest wheel that can be run on a WRX sedan. I though I head heard of someone running 9 inch wide wheels. Does anyone know, 17 inch wheels, 18 wheels and offsets? TIA.

i remember someone saying 8 was as wide as you could go without rolling the fenders...

there is another thread here with the same question.
8 is the widest you can go. 8.5 is risky.
i have 18x8

tire rack

I thought that tire rack had run 17X8.5s on a WRX in some sort of test. Maybe it was a brake comparison. May luke from tire rack can comment, if he sees this thread.
